Anupam, can you get something like Speccy on there? - should give you all the info you're after, motherboard etc, including the temparatures. Don't know if it'll run on your old machine there, just a thought.

Deya, I have already run Belarc Advisor, SIW, LookInMyPC, and WinAudit. But, they don't show the motherboard model. Just this string : i810-ITE8712. Posted this on other forum, and there they said this was the chipset. Anyways, I had looked up on Google, with this string, and also the BIOS string, and I came to know that the motherboard belongs to Lucky Star, a company from Taiwan, which is no longer in business, and there is no website too.
I had attempted to get temperatures from SpeedFan as I told earlier, but that was a no-go. I meanwhile, have news that I changed the jumper setting of the HDD, and also its position. Earlier, it was a slave to the optical drive. I now made it a master drive, and then placed it on the second free IDE port. So far, from installing XP to installing various software, patches and all, no hangs. So, fingers crossed, it seems like the problem is solved .

The problem is solved. There have been no hangs at all. I have installed various programs, and all is well. The PC is completed now, and I will be taking it to the owner's home.
Thanks for the helpful replies guys, much appreciated .
