What's a foundation editor?
I know what administrators and moderators do (not to mention some miscellaneous names), but foundation editors seems to just popped out of nowhere. Just asking out of curiosity. Thanks |

O yes, there are lots of places on the Forum which have restricted access although I thought that page was open to all.
"I'd like to like to personally thank all the editors who have contributed to the site. Without their contribution the site would be a pale shadow of what it is today. Special thanks must go to those editors who have been with the site right from the start. They have persevered while others have faltered. They have seen the site through our stumbling first steps, our errors and our collective frustrations but they have hung in. They figure high in the site's list of great unsung heroes. Here they are: abhishek: Abhishek Chaudhary andrew: Andrew Waters andrews: Andrew Seward chris.p: Chris Price fabrizio: Fabrizio Lodi FrankO: Frank Ortmann jason: (AKA Bubby) jean.denis: Jean-Denis Laval joe.bennett: Joe Bennett kendall: Kendall Alexander marcdarkin: Marc Darkin mikedutch: Mike Dutch peter: Peter Herbert pfeerick: Peter Feerick philip: Philip Spohn Ritho: Paul Lawrence roger: Roger Keeny tony: Tony Bennett In recognition of their contribution I figure that each of these editors deserves a special title: "Foundation Editor." I've asked Christoph, our forum manager, to change the title for each of these editors. Thanks also to to those who joined as editors in the first few weeks of the site's operation. Thanks guys. When your 12 months anniversary as a category editor arrives you'll be elevated to the role of "Senior Editor." We will continue that pattern into the future. Finally I'd like to thank a number of individuals for their unique personal contribution. But that will form my post for day 4 of our birthday celebrations. Gizmo "

Oh... I see. Makes perfect sense, thanks Peter! Nice to see a variation on titles. Bet there's still plenty of things I don't know about this site, so why are certain areas restricted? I mean, this is, after all, a community-based site right?

You post so frequently (& are very welcome to do so) that I thought you were a Category Editor. You really should consider it; there are some quite "soft" topics that require little work, but would contribute to the site ... sortof "giving a little back".
There's nothing sinister about the "restricted access" parts. But the various groups, Mods, Editors, "The Management" etc. need somewhere to discuss the site, policy, the future, etc. in reasonable privacy.

It's not that I post frequently, it's just that I'm quite "addicted" to this site. I have considered becoming an editor before but not right now, I'm still a student. I mostly log in every two days or so to catch up on the forums a bit, unless I have a big assignment or exams or something. You guys on the other hand seems to always log in 24/7.
