Have tried using Revo uninstaller to make sure all traces of dvdshrink are gone before you reinstall it?
Is it possible your firewall has had some sort of wobbly and is blocking the dvdshrink process from running correctly?

This is probably a shot in the dark, but have you considered using Windows Installer Clean-Up Utility? It's worked for me a couple times.

This may or not be the newest link or the best link. You might want to find it directly from the Windows site:

Have you rebooted between uninstalling and reinstalling? I found that worked once for me with a difficult program.

haven't been on for a couple of days. i think those are good ideas - to run an uninstaller and THEN reboot. i've done the reboot but not in conjunction with the uninstaller. i have some things running on that machine at the moment but will give your ideas a shot at the first opportunity and report back with the results. thanks everyone for your help.

just a quick note - microsoft no longer offers the Windows Installer Clean-Up Utility. they say it caused more problems than it cured. of course, they don't tell you that right away, they make you chase it for a while.

When you used Revo, at what setting did you use? It has several settings, one of which is moderate (the default), but there is one more that is more in-depth. Please use it with caution however if you do go that route.

rarms47 . did you get it to work ? Is it an absolute must that you have to use dvdshrink ? Perhaps there is an alternative program you could use ?
