problem with VLC files d/loaded as a torrent

Hi! I have never been to this site before, so I don't know who to address this to, but I thought i'd give it a try, since these files mean so much to me.

Yesterday I downloaded a 1.32 gig torrent batch with dozens of .flac song files from a 3-CD Monkees boxed set. The d/l went fine, but when I tried to open any one of the song files, a message popped up immediately.

"\\?\C:\Documents and Settings\Matt George\My Documents\Downloads\The Birds, The Bees, & The Monkees (2010 Deluxe Edition Box Set)\CD 3\The Monkees - The Birds, The Bees & The Monkees (Deluxe Edition) - Disc 3 of 3 (The Rarities) - 27 - The Girl I Left Behind Me (Third Recorded Version).flac The specified path does not exist. Check the path, and then try again."

The files are already in the "Download" folder, as a separate folder called "The Birds, The Bees, & the Monkees". Also, when I go into the folder itself, the files are listed, but next to each one of them is an icon of an "orange and white striped construction-type cone".

I looked at the file type and it said VLC Media File. So I downloaded a "VLC Media Player" and they still will not open/play.

An error window box pops up saying "File reading failed....your input cannot be opened" along with lines and lines of "%" signs and a few words.....at the end, it says "Check the log for details".

.....what does this mean? Are the files corrupted? Can you help? or anyone? I'd like to be able to play these someday, otherwise they are taking up disk space.

Are these legally distributed files? If not (and I believe that this is the case), in accordance with our forum rules, we can not help you in this matter.

Welcome to the forum Matt.

I am very sorry though, as the song files are downloaded from torrent... most likely, they are not legal, and therefore, we won't be able to provide any help with the problem. I am closing this thread.
