Attempts to download programs from Gizmo result in the following error message.
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item". This problem appeared out of the blue. I am the Administrator and the ONLY user. There are no other user accounts and the computer continues to recognize me on startup as the administrator. Would appreciate any and all advice to resolve this "Billy Gates bloody glitch"! Bob Edey |

We'll also need to know your system OS, details of any security software you may have recently installed or uninstalled and/or if you've recently used a so called "tweaking" tool or registry cleaner

Chkdsk can help (sometimes) but often these things are a shot in the dark unless the PC is sitting in front of you. I've seen this twice, once connected to a product from Blue Ridge Networks and again after using AppRemover to uninstall AVG 9 which they later released a fix for. I'm sure there must be a million other possibilities though

You are saying you are attempting to download programs from Gizmo. I assume that's our Gizmo's Freeware site. But we do not host any programs for download. We provide links to the software websites from where you can download the respective programs. So, please share which program you are trying to download, and from which site. You are saying that you get the error message when you try to download programs, but the error you posted is concerned with Windows, and you must be getting this when you try to access a folder, or file, or trying to run a program. So, again, the error is not concerned with download. I looked up on Google for your error message, and there are many links which turned up from where you can get a solution. It is a Windows problem, and not connected with downloading.
