I have Windows Vista and clicked to install updates but it seems to be stuck at 50% and won't complete--neither can I cancel it and start over. I've deleted a number of things I had on my computer since this happened in case there wasn't room but I didn't really think this was the problem and it hasn't worked? Since it happened the printer won't work either. Any advice please?::

Are you getting any prompt with an error message or is it just stuck? You did not give much details. I found this link that describes a similar problem. Maybe it helps:

In that article about the problem they suggest to install Windows Live Essentials 2011 manually. Why don't you try that first. Here is the link:
http://explore.live.com/windows-live-essentials Download it from there and install it manually. Then try the automated update again.

Here is an article that sounds a bit like your problem. The instructions there might help you too.
http://windowslivehelp.com/thread.as...6-ad57a2cb1061 If not, that would also be a good spot to post your problem right in that forum which is specifically for Windows Live support.

Look at the task manager and see if there is anything that has "KB2434419" in it or any indications of (not responding). If so, select it and end the task.
Also, check to see what version of Installer you have.
