d drive

why does my d drive say its out of space? i didnt even know i was using it, im not a pro but i have yet to figure out how to make space on this drive...help

most d drives are cd drives on single partition harddrives :S
you probably need to put in a cd

On my PC D drive is HP Recovery.

While in Windows Explorer, right-click on D drive and select "Properties", it should show you the used and free space on the disk.

Please check your default System Restore settings. On my Windows, the default settings were saving to both C and D whereas only C was required. One I'd changed that, D stopped getting filled up.

What are the contents of your D drive? Also, what is the total capacity of that drive, and what is the free space presently?

What is the OS you are using, Windows XP, or Windows Vista, or other?

1002richards makes a good point. You should check if you have the system restore on for the D drive. If yes, it would need to be turned off.

For Windows XP, here is how you can check. Right click on My Computer, and then click Properties. Go to the "System Restore" tab. Under that, click and select the D drive, and then click Settings. Under the Settings, check the checkbox "Turn off System Restore on this drive".

If you want to see what is taking up the space on the D drive, you can use Disk Space Analyser program like WinDirStat, or TreeSize Free. These programs will tell you what folders or files are taking up space on the hard disk.
