microsoft office 2000 premium and 64-bit windows

hello all - i was hoping some one might be able to clue me in on a resolution to the following problem:

i loaded microsoft office 2000 premium onto my laptop running 64-bit vista. it seems that all the applications work except for word. i thought word would run under compatibility mode - but it wont run at all.

any one know of a resolution?
