Default Open With

Try these steps:

1. Rigth click on the doc file.
2. In the context menu, select "Open With" and Choose Program.
3. Select "Microsoft Office Word" (or browse to locate the program, or see Note).
4. Tick "Always use the selected porgram to open this kind of file."
5. Click OK.

Note: In case when you browse to locate an application, it does not get added to the Open With dialog, then try OpenWithAdd utility.

Hope the above helps.

Hey Jojoyee - Just to expand a little on your excellent advise...You can also; right click on the doc file and select 'Properties', then in the ensuing window, look for "Opens With" (under the 'General' tab) and click on the "Change" button. You can now browse your computer and change the default to any installed program.

cheers....JIM

Or you could open Microsoft Word and then open your .doc file from there, but this is more of a temporary solution as you can't directly open your .doc file with mouse-clicks.
