Default Help - desktop background Windows Vista

Hi,
I'm new here and I need some help.

I have Vista in my computer and now my desktop background is playing up. I tried to change the background but the picture does not fit the screen. I change the personalization in all 3 option and I still don't get it. Something has changed and now the picture sits like 5 cm from top to bottom and from left to right, as if it's going down and to the right.

The icons are fine and I can move them around to where the picture can't reach. It's not something to do with the size of the picture because it seems that, some how the computer has change the size of my desktop but only for the background picture.

It is very annoying if I choose to stretch, it stretches down and to the right (where no one can see) leaving an empty part on top and on the left, and if I change to center, doesn't work either but if I change to tile, this empty space fills up with a stretched picture. It's really weird. Please can anyone help me?

Thank you very much indeed.

Anderson

Is this behavior the case with all images or just with the one you use right now? It sounds to me like the image file cold be the reason. Try other images and see if it is doing the same.

If its not the image, try to set down the screen resolution. What is it doing then? If it is working in a lower resolution there is a good chance it reloads good when you restore your previous resolution.

Video driver update is another shot you can take. But it seems less probable as a reason.

George, thanks a lot for the reply.
It happens to any picture, it doesn't matter the size.

I've tried to change to a lower resolution (tried all of them) and it did not change, the picture stays in the same place.
And when I came back to my "normal" resolution nothing has changed.

I disabled the my Display Card and even thought nothing changed. When I enable my graphic card, did not change either.

Please help!

Thumbs up easier fix!

I had the same problem. I had just changed one of my pictures from 3:4 ratio to 4:6 ratio. My screen is 16:9, so neither one of those would fill it perfectly anyway. While the 3:4 ratio centered nicely, with black background on the edges, as soon as I edited the picture, it blew up huge on the screen. Not only that, but all my pictures, no matter what ratio, blew up huge (except for the sample pictures that came with the computer; not sure why).

Solution: I right clicked on one random picture that I didn't care much about, clicked "edit" (which opens Windows Photo Gallery), clicked "file", then clicked "revert to original". It undid all of my past editing to that particular picture (but not to any other), BUT it fixed the desktop background problem for all my pictures. Now my 4:6 ratio pictures fit nicely, with just a tiny bit of edges clipped off.
