Default Checkers

I noticed that the games section did not have checkers software. There are numerous such but I found one that is particularly excellent. To save you a bit of a search, here is one that I like:

Just fyi

p.s. You can use this to help as an editorial until one of your good editors can get around to it.

WCC is a checkers program that is quite strong in its play execution. You can choose which side to play, change sides at will, save games and reload them when you are ready to continue. There is no timer for moves. The computer just plays when it is ready or you can set it to infinite search time. You need to tell it how much memory to use. Just do not set it to zero, as it will not be able to function. There is a built in database of endgames and it uses that to determine the best line of play after you get well into the game. The graphics are quite simple as is the interface. One caveat is that this program is very strong and there are no intermediate setting for lesser players to be able to beat it. But, if you want a simple to use program that is out for blood, this is a very good way to go.

It's a good suggestion for adding a category of Checkers program. I've not tried WCC yet but noticed that it has a huge file size of over 150 MB.

BTW, you can consider to become an editor for this category.

The page says "Free Copy", but is the program indeed free, or a demo version is being made available just for free download? If someone tries it out, please report here.
