-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mon, 01/26/2009 - 20:12 — subrosavered I am running Windows XP and have used Sandboxie for years with no problems whatsoever. However I just installed the most recent version and am now having problems. After downloading something in a sandbox I cannot delete it. I try terminating the programs first and then delete and still can't. Sandboxie says the files are locked and are being used by another application. I downloaded Unlocker and tried that but unlocker says all the files are not locked except for the reghive and reghive.log files. Unlocker would (and did) delete all the files for me except for the reghive and reghive.log files which I still cannot delete, but this is not an ideal solution. I cannot even delete them manually. Any suggestions? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- #1Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 02/09/2009 - 12:12. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Usually when the Reg Hive is locked it is "Windows Explorer" and/or "Internet Explorer" that is locking the file. On reboot you should be able to delete the file. I use "Unlocker" and "Force Delete" to delete the file/files. Be aware that when doing so "Windows Explorer" will restart if you have forced it to unlock the file. I personally don't like this because when "Windows Explorer" restarts I loose some tray icons even though these programs are still running. I use "Sandboxie" often (Everyday) and feel much safer when surfing the net while using it. The "Locked File" issue rarely happens. Maybe once every week or two. Right off the bat, when I go to Sandboxie Control --> Sandboxie Start, I get this message: "Cannot find the executable for the default web browser." I'm a greenhorn techi, and something tells me I may have deleted an executable file before I knew what exe. actually means! (I've had some problems opening some desktop shortcuts as a result.) -- I have Windows XP and use Internet Explorer7, with Firefox as the underlying browser.... any suggestions? Thanks. -- Bobbie ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- #3Submitted by acemackenzi on Sat, 01/31/2009 - 17:32. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't use sandiebox and I am having the same problem. I can delete all but the Reg files and some of the .dll files. I try to delete them and I get that message that says check to see disk is not full or that it is not being used by another program. Occasionally if I manually delete all the files I can, then run CCleaner it finishes the delete process for me. Try that and see if it works for you. |

Windows explorer can interfere with deleting files.
Hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete and bring up taskmanager. Goto processes tab and find "explorer.exe" processes. End all the "explorer.exe" processes. Now goto "File" "New Task(Run...)" and type "cmd". Click on okay. This brings up the command promt. Type "dir". Type "Cd directory" to the directory where the files you want to delete is in. Replace the name "directory" with the name of the folder you want to goto. Type "del filename" . Where filename is the name of the file you want to delete. After deleteing the files type "exit". go back to "File" "New Task(Run...)" and type "explorer.exe". Click on okay. That should get the files deleted. - Last edited by Lassar; 25.
