Default No video with Camstudio 2.0

I have not really used this before but it seems straight forward enough. I tried recording a region video and by the size of the video I can tell its all there but on playback I do not get the video although I do get the sound. I have tried various codecs with the same result. I tried updgrading to the 2.5 beta 1 but that didnt have my audio setting so I reverted back even though I didnt get video with it. Any assistance in this area would be greatly appreciated as I am not had a lot of experience with this. Thanx...

What is the extension of the video that is being created? It can be a codec problem. GSpot, or a similar software like VideoInspector, will tell you what is the exact codec required to play the video file.

Wink On their website

you find the following info:

http://camstudio.org/

Issues

A number of people have mentioned having trouble viewing SWF videos generated by CamStudio. It turns out there's a bug which means you can't see anything if you try watching them with Netscape or Firefox (Internet Explorer works fine) ...
The next update (2.5) will fix this but until then, here's a temporary workaround:

Open the related HTML to the SWF you've just generated and look for the line starting with the "EMBED SRC" command ...

Change the Width and Height values in this line to match values in the line starting with "OBJECT CLASSID".

Save the file and you should be good to go ...

I was creating .AVI and when I went to ver 2.5 the option to use speakers for audio was not there which is what I use to capture audio. I very much appreciate all your help and hopefully we will figure it out

Download and install Xvid or Divx codec... and I think you will be able to play the avi file fine . You can also try playing the file with VLC Media Player, if you havent tried that yet.

As another solution, if swf is not a problem, then you can choose to convert the avi file to swf format with the swf producer option from camstudio program itself: Tools --> Swf Producer.

Camstudio is not being developed. Last version was 2.5 and it was a beta.
You can try other similar programs too. You can check them out here:

I tried those codecs already - I also tried using Krut with no success either. I will see what else is there.

WOW I downloaded the Windows Media Encoder and I actually like that and it wrote it to a .wmv file however I still get nothing during playback. Something is messed up and right now the only thing I can think of is my removing quicktime and stuff to run the free versions that was offered with one of those programs.

Is there any utility that will check to determine if I have a codec issue or that would help me to resolve this issue? Thanx...
