Default Windows 7 + Comodo Firewall 64bit Issue

Hi all,

Great forum, a world of advice.

I have an issue I hope you can help me with. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, upon attempting to install Comodo Firewall 64bit, I am presented with an Error "unable to extract "IncompatSw.ini".

I am wondering if anyone has managed to find a way around this error, I have tried the 32bit client, and had the same error.

Unfortunately I don't have any experience of W7 but I am using CIS on Vista Ultimate x64 and it's faultless. Comodo's website actually isn't that easy to navigate for the right download. I know of several people who ended up with the x32 bit version when they thought they were getting the x64. Apart from that maybe there's some admin mode with W7 which you need to engage? I'm sure one of the other editors here with W7 knowledge will post soon with some advice.

I have Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, and Comodo Firewall x64 installed fine for me. Try running the installation again as an administrator (right click it, run as admin).

People following my other threads will know that my intention was to run Bullguard for a period to cover queries arising from the offer. I trialled it a while back on my older XP machine to see if it might be suitable for a "freebie" and was impressed. I liked it too on x64 Vista until a still unidentified software conflict began slowing my PC and causing some programs not to load at boot. Was it not for the fact that I need this PC to stay fully functional for TSA then I would have followed Bullguard support's "fix" advice but having already destroyed my Ubuntu partition network during the upgrade to 9.10 (LOL) I felt things were best left alone to avoid a possible prolonged absence off line.

Consequently I re-installed CIS and apart from the whopping 100mb+ additional signature base required everything is back 100%. I certainly find Comodo the easiest firewall to manage out what I don't want connecting. Maybe it's just a false sense of security but there's something comforting about seeing all those "system this" and "system that" red crosses in the blocked log

I intend to upgrade to W7 in about another month and at this point will either use my Bullguard license for it's balance or put CIS on. Have you had any negative issues with CIS and W7, J.L? I still see quite a few supposed bypass incidents being flagged in their forum but it's difficult to assess how relevant any of these might be for the likes of us average folk, especially given that their level of forum traffic is so high and these things can sometimes look out of proportion.

Other than the AV problems mentioned here, there is no definite negative issues for me.

Thanks for that. I had a similar issue with Bullguard constantly flagging Ultra CPU Monitor no matter how I configured it otherwise. Funnily enough the only program I've tried which always remembered stuff marked to forget was Prevx
