Hi ekadim, thanks a lot for you kind appreciation
. And well, I was around .Ok, I will mail my experience, and the error to them. Maybe, they can tell me more about it. I will also ask them about proper help on using the software. Because, without a help manual, its just about trial and error. Its really nice that they are working on the fix, and would be nice to see this software work. Its a long needed freeware. Would be great to see it work. Thanks .

I just found this site after installing Total Mounter. I too had similar experiences.
I am running Vista 32bit SP2. Installing it gave me two seperate error messages with unsigned drivers. I thought perhaps maybe that 'caused my issues. I was able to mount an image successfully but it did not assign it a drive letter, thus I wasn't able to do anything with it. I also found the interface awkward as it could not be resized. I downloaded the 1.32 version and had high hopes for it. Well maybe still |

Hello All,
Although the official website has still the version 1.32 (kernsafe.com), the freeware files website has the download page for version 1.33. And download link really links to version 1.33 on kernsafe site (http://www.freewarefiles.com/TotalMo...ram_49536.html). I have downloaded it but not have given a try. Just for your information. ekadim |

I installed the version 1.33 without a problem on Vista SP2. But when I wanted to mount a DVD-RW drive, I had the same problem again:Again unmountable DVD-RW and in the device manager the same exclamation mark. Not losing hope, I look to the future for a lasting solution.

The official website is still having Total Mounter 1.32. I always try to download software from the main site. I have been waiting for them to update the software at the main website. Maybe, they don't want to release the update yet?
As suggested, I had sent a mail to them, but didn't get any reply from their side yet.

Well, I can honestly say I do not know what the problem is. I do know however that if you play with it and use Gizmo Virtual Drive with it however it seems to work in some interesting ways. Using total mount to create files that GVD can format is pretty good but I have not been able to use it the way it is supposed to work yet. It mounts ISO's and IMG's while creating IMG's that my computer says needs to be formatted it creates ISO's with the same format issues. Not sure why all this happens I just know what the programs tell me.

The program still has bugs, and does not work as desired. As you can see from the thread, some users, including myself, have mailed to them, and an update was expected, but till now there has been none.
Some days back, version 1.33 was on the download sites, but it was never updated on the main site. I guess they took back the update. I still do keep checking on their main site, but the version remains at 1.32.

Likewise Anupam. For almost more than a month I check the kernsafe.com to see whether there is a new version of TotalMounter but no update since 1.32. i try to catch any promotion for Virtual CD and I found one but it was only for XP but I have Vista and 7.
All the best. |

I hope they are still developing the program. Its the only freeware in this category, as far as I know.
Maybe you could try running Virtual CD in XP mode, if Vista or Win 7 has that setting.

I try this software today.
I download the last version from the website (1.33) Installation without any problem, only an alert because the drivers isn't signed by Microsoft (Kernsafe don't pay the Microsoft taxe !! )Apparently, we don't need to reboot ... (I did it anyway ... to be sure ) No problem to create the disk but I have 3 remarks on the interface: - As already mentioned, it's not possible to re-size the windows (not a big deal, but ...) - When you create a new image file for a CD-RW, they could propose some standard size for CD or DVD. Having the possibility to enter another value is good but not noob proof (what is the size of a DVD in Mb ?) - You can launch the interface several time without any alarm. As it reduce to the tray, and my taskbar is auto-hide, I launch it more than 5 times ... Why, when it start, don't it check if it's already running and then "maximize" from the tray, instead of launching an other copy of itself ? Write files to the image from Windows Explorer seems to work without problem. (one good point )With CDBurnerXP, the virtual drive is seen, but when I try to burn some file on it, I have an error saying that the disk is "not usable" (even if I already have written some files on it from Explorer) With my backup tool, the virtual writer is not recognized !! (shame, this was the reason why I install this software )An other annoying thing, when you unmount the virtual writer, the letter still appear in Explorer !! and keep the name. If you mount an other iso file, it's seems to be Ok, but in fact you don't see it's content, but the folders and files of the first one. example : I mount an iso file of Linpus (Linux for Netbook). I can view folders and read files. I unmount it and then mount an other iso file of Ubuntu. Then I still see the folders and files of Linpus (when I try to read a file, I have an error if I don't read it previously, otherwise it open without problem). I need to log off / log in to be able to see the content of Ubuntu file ![]() (a problem with refreshing the content of the cache ?!?) Compared to the previous tests and versions, it seems that they have some improvement but they still have a lot of work to do on it ericc |
