Default Validation error while trying to post comments

Hi,

I'm in the process of posting a comment on TSA (Best Free Media Player) and as soon as I hit the preview button, I got the following message:
Quote:
Validation error, please try again. If this error persists, please contact the site administrator.
Clicking the preview button a second time, I got this message:
Quote:
* Validation error, please try again. If this error persists, please contact the site administrator.
* To complete this form, please complete the word verification below.
I did the word verification, and on asking for a preview, I'm back to the 1st error message.
So, it seems the error is persisting and I can't post my comment

What gives?

Thanks in advance.

Do you get the error, when you hit Save? Why not just Save and publish directly... you can always edit it later, when you notice a mistake.

I will put this problem forward to the team.

Hi Anupam and sorry about being a bit late to reply.

Today, I had the following experience:
When I tried to post a commente in the article about the new preview pane of Gmail, I was asked to do the word verification. After I did, the preview worked fine.
But, a few minutes later when trying to post a comment in the "Best Free Media Player" article, I was again asked to do the word verification, though I was still in the same session.

I haven't tried hitting "Save" without "Preview" - sorry, force of habbit.

Maybe it has to do with the ongoing security revisions mentioned by MC here?

Thanks in advance.

No problem 26Dolphins .

Yes, it might have something to do with security as told by MC. The server security has been increased, as the site is growing, and getting popular, this has to be done. So, there might be some inconveniences. Please report anything, which prevents you from using the site smoothly.

You might also get 403 errors, or the likes, while posting on forum too, because of the server side security. So, if that occurs too, please post details about them.

Meanwhile, please try to hit Save directly, atleast on the main site, instead of Preview, if that is giving a problem. No such restriction is there on the forum I think, so you can do the Preview on the forum.

I will try to get back with some definite answers.

Hi Anupam,

Thanks for the reply.

Well, I just posted a comment on the "Best Free Drive Imaging Program" category and had no problems with the "Preview" button (had logged-off & logged-in in the meantime), so I'm not sure if it's related to that button specific or if it's a hiccup with the log in credentials.

A couple of days ago, I did get a server error when trying to visit the "Security" subforum, but doing a page reload solved it.

Will pay more attention from on in order to properly report any issues.

Thanks for everyone's efforts.

The verification might be asked, if there is some content in the comment, which the security software, might think as suspicious. I looked at your comment in the BF Media Player article, and though I don't see any such content, but maybe the .ini part triggered it? Can't say at this moment.

Hi Anupam,

Going for the "Save" button without preview worked flawlessly - don't know if that was just coincidence or if things are looking better today.

Yes, I know about that and always try to word my comments carefully, but it could be that I manage less well than I think .
Anyway, time will tell.

Cheers

Save button should work good most of the times, I guess. Atleast it did not give any trouble to me anytime... but again, maybe because I am a moderator. I never tried the Preview button ever, actually. Hope you don't get any trouble with it.

Well, no need to be too careful with the content, because I know that you will be posting genuine stuff. But, you never know what the server security might think of as suspicious, so it can throw up little trouble sometimes.
