Default Search Function on Main Site

It might just be me and my connection, but my recent experience is that the search function on the main site is once again taking far too long. A search for me on the main site is averaging about 10-15 seconds. Prior to our recent upgrade, it was much quicker.

Like I said, it might be my connection. Can others please see what they think?

P.S. I am using Firefox 3.6 and the search for "antivirus" took the longest.

The site was opening very very slow here for about 5-10 minutes... both forum, and the main site. I think it might be because of this. I got MC's email, asking if the site was down for me too.

Wow! I just tried the search function on the main site again. Once again, with Firefox, the search for "antivirus" took a little over 10 seconds. What the "wow" is for is that IE only took about 2 seconds?! I'm kind of shocked! I wonder why such a big difference?

I tried with Firefox, and Iron. Both took almost the same time, a few seconds before the results were shown. Iron was a bit faster I think though. But yes, it felt a bit slow.

The site has been slow to load, on and off, here over the last couple of hours, wouldn't load at all at one point. Just clicking around it now and at the moment it seems to be back to normal.

Looks like the Search on the main site using Firefox on my PC (Win7) is much slower too.

Search term: antivirus, or pdf

On Firefox 4: average time taken: 12 to 13 seconds.
On Chrome 11: average 2 to 3 seconds.
On IE9: average 2 to 3 seconds.

Exactly the same as my experience. I find it quite odd that FF is so much slower.

Since FF 4, I have been playing around with different browsers and I have this bias against IE. However, I keep coming back to it for some reason. I'm almost ashamed to admit it, but IE 9 is quite compelling for me. This is just one more reason why I just might make the shift to IE.

MC feels the same, especially since discovering that Speckie supports ie9 for real time spell checking I also like using Trend Micro Browser Guard with ie9 although I'm still not sure exactly what it does In case of queries I've also retained that unmentionable AV product we gave away here a while back, and that supports ie9 with safe search ratings. My only gripe is the wasted space where the WOT and TMBG icons sit but otherwise ie9 just feels right somehow. It also starts when you press the button

Kendall is on his way to the dark side(IE), and MC is in the process of following him

Undoubtedly a poor idea or design in having the toolbar to take a whole row in IE9.
