wdhpr, do you also get this error? Even when logged in, and trying to post comment?
Please, will you provide details about this, so that I can put it up to our team, and try to fix this?

We would appreciate if our members can report any kind of problem about the site, or forum, however small it might be. Because, sometimes, we do not even get to know that a problem exists. Its only when someone tells about it, that we come to know that such a problem is being faced by our members.
So, please report any big or small problems, so that we may look into it. Our team, and Gizmo himself, are always trying to enhance the site, and make it better. So, they keep making changes to the site, incrementally. Sometimes, these changes can cause some problems too. If we know about them, we can fix them.

I get the error because (when not logged in) the window for entering the text already has my information entered. If I attempt to submit a comment it will disallow it because my nickname has already been taken. Its no hassle for me. If on a rare occasion I want to comment on a thread from the main site. I just log in. Anupam, I'm surprised this is the first time you heard about this. cheers Wdhpr Last edited by wdhpr; 04. May 2011 at 09:42 AM. |

Ah, thought so! Well, if you are not logged in, and then you try to use your registered username to post a comment(being anonymous), then of course the system will complain about it. Its not a quirk, but something logical. Why would it allow to post a comment, with that username, when a registered username of the same name already exists.
Correct procedure is to login on the site, and then post a comment. That way, it will use your registered username, without any error. Also, if you post comments as registered user, after being logged in, you do not have to pass through spam filter... you can post links, and they will be displayed as URL. So, posting comments after logging in, has its advantages .I have come across the error wdhpr, when I tried to edit comments of unregistered users. But, that is not an error, of course. But, your post, and the post by OP, seemed like the error occurred even while you were logged in as registered user... which would really be a problem. So, I just asked to confirm. So, if its occurring when you are not logged in, and trying to post as anonymous, but using your registered username, then it not an error. Either use another username, or log in and post comment .

If I use a bookmark to enter the site, which is typical. The home page already has my info and therefore enters it automatically. I know I can delete the entries. It just makes it a tad harder to remain anonymous
Maybe not a quirk just my misunderstanding.
