I found a very good program that does something not fully covered in the article about the type of software and suggested it in the comments at the bottom. 30 mins later comments are deleted.
I see others making suggestions on the comments, why am I barred? Or are you not allowed now? |

For a second there I thought this thread had been deleted as I couldn't find it.
I made the suggestion in this article: http://www.techsupportalert.com/best...ver-backup.htm About this program: SlimDriver. The program was relevant and basically wipes the floor with the top selected DriverMax which is now just basically adware. I even went to the trouble of explaining what it does. I'm not in the business of spamming. Last edited by Anupam; 20. Mar 2011 at 06:27 PM. Reason: Removed link to the program |

I am sorry, the comments were deleted. I had initially unpublished the comment, because I wanted to take a look at the site, and then decide about it. Taking a look at the site, somehow I wasn't convinced enough, because the site seems to put a whole lot of emphasis on the commercial version of the program. I could not find a proper comparison of the free and commercial versions of the program to know the exact differences. There is also no separate information page for the free version of the software. That's why, I had taken out the comment.
Also, I would like to say that if you have an ID registered on the site, then please log in and post comments, because it would give more credibility to the comments you post. Does the free version of the software provide backup? Because the article on which you posted is about driver backup more, rather than driver update.

The difference between the two is the paid version gives you one click driver update rather than the manual update you have to do with the free version and premium support. I would imagine they emphasis the premium one for the same reason my other companies do.
The free version provides backup, restore, updates, uninstall and support (which they claim to respond to problems within 48 hours - but I've not tested that). Also before each install it creates a restore point (in case of problems) and first time round backs up all your current drivers. I only suggested it because free Driver Max really is a joke and IMHO should be take off the site (I dont know if you've tried it recently, its bad!) I've only recently found it after ditching Driver Max a couple of years ago. I have used it on all my windows PC's with no problem. Its very user friendly, and I'm not sure how long it will be free for. I can write a review if you want? EDIT: Apologies for not signing in just being lazy. Last edited by bob2345; 20. Thanks for the information, and the feedback on the program.
I don't use driver update programs, so I don't know about DriverMax too, but I know that recently, it got quite crippled. Well, thanks for the suggestion. At the moment, the article does not have any editor, so, the program might not be added now. But, whenever there is an editor, we will pass on the suggestion.

Slim Driver is a spammer who's sole purpose is to sell their commercial product.
They even contacted me directly with "incentives" to include their product in our review. Not wanted here
