Yes, IE6 is still quite widely used, and that has been the culprit behind recent hacks. Can't do much about it. And, MS does not even patch it. Older versions of Firefox are there, but patches are still being rolled out for them.
I myself have IE6 on my system, although I don't use it. I just use Firefox. I just do not want to upgrade to IE8, because I am not going to use IE.

Ah yes, I got that later, when I had already made my post . Still, I waited for you to reply rather than edit my post .

EDIT: the site owner knows about the hack and is cleaning his site up.

I'm going to try to help him with the cleanup; Mike can probably leave his link there, since the infected site should be dis-infected shortly.
EDIT 2: Just dropped the site owner a note specifying how to remove the malicious JavaScript the hacker left. With any luck, the site should be clean soon.
Good work by you there, I must say. Saved trouble for Mike, as well as the owner of the legit site... saved him a lot of trouble. Thumbs up.

My Mom still uses IE6; after a great deal of arguing, I finally got her onto Firefox with NoScript. She hasn't looked back since. Good riddance to IE...

Thank you!

I have some very good news. mapelli[DOT]info is no longer hacked. The site owner e-mailed me back to tell me he managed to get rid of the infection and has changed the passwords on all his services; I looked through the source for his page and he has indeed removed the malicious JS. In addition, Firefox no longer warns that his site is an attack site.

Mike, don't worry about removing the link.

Yes, many people still use older versions of IE... and are even reluctant to change it. The less computer savvy people would like to stick to IE, because they do not know latest versions are available, or they do not want to use other browser, because they think maybe they won't be able to use it. That's one of the reasons why hackers succeed.

The mapelli site opens without any problems from Firefox now. You did a really good job, and within no time. You saved many people a lot of trouble .

Also, some tech-unsavvy people hold the viewpoint that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"; they fail to realize that IE 6 is indeed broken and needs fixing (preferably by being replaced with Firefox :P )
