Finally got Acronis True Image 10 Personal. Installed ok.
Tried to run a backup and when I get to name file (File Name ![]() the program stops and top bar reads (Not Responding). The only thing I can do at that point is close the program. Any suggestions or directions will be appreciated. System: Vista Home Premium Thanks, Tom |

Hi Tom,
Welcome to the Forum. Usually that wait and not responding during a file selection or save is an indicator of a pause while searching or connecting drives. Have you let that sit for a few minutes before ending the app? Are you using this on a network where you have mapped drives? Zjooj

Thanks for your quick response. I have waited 5+ min. and get the same results. At the top of page Create Backup Wizard (Not Responding) and only step is to terminate program. This is not on a network. Stand alone trying to backup to a Maxtor 1TB external drive.

Tom,
Apologies for taking so long to reply...someone moved your thread and I didn't get notification of your last post... Try this...although it could be one of a million other things of course I don't think its acronis...unplug your maxtor drive and any other storage devices you have plugged in and try it. If that doesn't work then more questions: *Are you using a theme or style for Vista like WindowBlinds or Style XP? *Was this machine "ever" on a network or a WorkGroup? Added then removed etc? *Does the OS have the latest service pack installed (I believe SP1 for vista is the latest)? This may not actually fix it but its a good place to start just in case *and of course the ever lingering Windows PITA; have you restarted the computer <sigh> Just holler back, I am actually quite interested in understanding why it is acting the way it is. Regards, Zjooj

Thanks for your reply.
1. No themes, 2. Machine was on a workgroup., 3. OS Vista Home Premium SP1. The good news, the backup worked last night. With machine off: Disconnected the internet Attached Maxtor drive Turned on PC Closed all running startup programs Run CCleaner Started Acronis True Image 10 Personal Was able to enter the file name and save to the external drive. Not sure what I did different, but it worked. Thanks again for your help. Tom |

Tom,
Great to hear!! and good job unplugging the network connection! The internet unplugged had to be the solution. If you plug it back in and reboot will it still work? My guess is there was a mapped drive or the Open/Save dialog is searching for the network and can't find it thus delaying the save dialog and causing it to "hang". If it does it with the internet plugged in after a reboot then simply go to network settings and remove it from any networks/workgroups it used to belong to. Also check to see if there isnt a logon script or mapped drive still sitting on your machine trying to connect. Again, glad to hear it is working. Regards, Zjooj
