rapid screen/window capture

I am using an astronomical program that permits an observer to move in a ship or airplane, in both location and time.
I would like to be able to capture the astronomical window **repeatedly and automatically after a manual start, perhaps every 5 seconds or so in real time. The image files could be sent to specified folder/directory. Each image would have a automatically added sequence number.
This high speed screen capture program need not be freeware, but I would like it to have at least a ten day trial period.

Will the freeware products mentioned in Best Free Screen Session Recorder serve the purpose?

I think that kind of a job would require some scripting or macros, or something on similar lines, unless I am wrong and there is a software that can do what has been asked.
