Default Worst Song Ever!?

Rebecca Black: It started way back in April. Most of you guys probably should have been acquainted with this name by now, but for those who havn't yet, the internet world in a single voice claims that her song holds the title for the worst song ever. 13 yr old Rebecca Black's song "Friday" had become a viral sensation for all the wrong reasons.

By the time the song was removed from Youtube due to the dispute
with the record label and copyright claims, it had amassed 167 million views,
3.2 million disklikes and over 3 million comments. MILLION seriously!

Also numerous parodies, commetaries and pieces of news coverage all combined,
this surely makes it the biggest YouTube meme in history.

And, yes, the song is terrible, but even more annoying is that it is a little catchy. It may all be rather unfair on a young girl, but it just goes to show that if you’re going to do something badly, do it so badly it’s remarkable . By the way the girl looks cute.

These were funny.

Can not do a link because I'm at work, but my vote for worst song is

William Shanter singing "Rocket Man".

Wdhpr to the rescue

My nomination is that little diddy by the Archies called Sugar Sugar. The record was formed on a cereal box and could be cut out and played on a record player (I know I'm giving away my age).
My three older sisters played it non-stop for a month and when I slept I heard it in my dreams

This radio station plays them all day - if you can stand it that long. Bad Song Radio. Stream it through you're player of choice, or use the Flash Player option to stream it through your browser. As for the song links here, the first one, Rebecca Black is truly awful - I played it three times though.

Speaking as a retired pro musician who has worked with some of the best (and the worst) in the business, the worst version (rather than the worst actual song) is Whitney Houston's version of I Will Always Love You. The beginning is fine but, once that key change comes in, she just SHOUTS all the rest of it. Mind you, she was like that with most of her tracks so perhaps I am a bit biased. Speak to any REAL musician or singer and I think you will find plenty to agree. (And no doubt plenty to disagree ).

All of Justin Bieber's, until he grows up vocally.

Am not sure of this. She has won praises from critics for the song and has been featured in many magazine's as top 100 songs of the last decade and 14 consecutive weeks at Billboard top100 shattering the record of Bryan Adam's (Everything I do) at that time. Those shouts you were referring to, she treats the song as a series of emotional bursts in a steady climb toward a final full-out declamation.

The song has been selected as record of the year, best pop vocal performance, female. In addition, it received Favorite Pop/Rock Single and Favorite Soul/R&B Single awards at the 21st American Music Awards, which was the first record by a solo female artist to win both categories, and the third overall in AMA history behind "Endless Love" by Lionel Richie & Diana Ross in 1982 and "Beat It" by Michael Jackson in 1984.

sources : Wikipedia, I will always love you

Pardon me, am not a musician like you Jim.

It's got to be this horror from St.Winifred's school choir!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsXJcIODLtQ

From Wikipedia "from St Winifred's Roman Catholic Primary School in Stockport, United Kingdom, was a choir of children whose single in 1980 became the British Christmas number one single of that year. The song was entitled "There's No-one Quite Like Grandma", and it spent two weeks at number one, and eleven weeks in the UK Singles Chart in total.[1] The lead vocal was provided by Dawn Ralph. The song was composed by award-winning record producer Gordon Lorenz. During the late 1970s and the 1980s, the choir were trained and conducted by Miss Terri Foley. It was the Music for Pleasure record label's only UK No. 1 single."

By some distance - John Miles, Music (was my first love).

Just absolutely awful, even worse than Justin Bieber.

Talking

George J.

I knew I'd get some response and that's why I posted it (a bit tongue in cheek - sorry). However, I stand by it - mostly. To explain my feelings in a slightly more serious vein:
WH has a great voice but, in my and many other's opinion, as her fame progressed she confused power with passion. Something in common with Mario Lanza, Shirley Bassey (sometimes) and many others. Her first hit (I Wanna Dance With Somebody) was great. Simple song but sung well with youthful exuberance. Her quieter slow ballads with no shouty bits have been great too. I can't argue with the acclaims and awards that record has received but I think most of them were from people "jumping on the band wagon" because she was the "in thing" at the time or from people who had real musical knowledge but had an axe to grind at the time and couldn't afford to be "out of the loop." My preference was for the Dolly Parton version; the competent C&W singer who actually wrote it and sung it with a quiet passion. I am not a great DP fan but, although she probably made a lot of money out of it, it's a shame she didn't get more credit for her version. Anyway, this gave me a chance to rant over my most hated recording. On the other side of the coin the no.1 with the most going for it was deffo Bryan Adams Everything I Do. Good song, good words, nice chords, pedal bass (which is always a great effect), nice emotive guitar solo and, of course, the great voice of BA.
Anyway, enough of my sermons.

p.s. George - you don't have to be a musician to express a valid and informed opinion.
