My humor is much like binary arithmatic,
it seems only 01 out of 10 people get it.

Watch business channels like CNBC, FBN, Bloomberg to fact check the dumb things regular news channels say.

The business channels were first to report that none of the plans to fix the debt in the U.S. (and increase the debt ceiling) would save the AAA rating. The U.S. has a 50/50 percent chance of a downgrade regardless of whether Congress passes a fix by the 2nd. The regular cable news channels seemed oblivious to this for the longest time.

[It doesn't help that the politicians are even more oblivious (to the point that one party is inaccurately blustering on about extending the debt ceiling past the 2012 elections; the business channels don't fall victim to such rhetoric and don't buy that the AAA rating is remotely tied to the length of the debt ceiling increase).]

And business channels have much more perspective on the rises/falls in the market. I watched Wolf Blitzer on CNN and Brett Bair on FNC both inaccurately explain some of the drops in the market as reactions from political failures, while business channels were explaining the same drops as reactions to many causes (mostly bad economic reports).

I'm starting to watch the business channels as much as the regular channels for my TV news.

Just to state the obvious, if a stock goes up it's because their are more buyers than sellers. This could be a result of new buys entering the market or some sellers withdrawing from the market.

Now unless a news broadcast is going to interview all these people to find out why, the only thing they know .. .. .. is there were more buys than sellers.

Unfortunately every news/business broadcaster seems to have to guess at a reason and then present it as a fact.

My tip is to stay clear of info services that presents opinions as facts.

Default Comment from bibzgi's cat

Dear humans,

Aren't we being a little too hard on cats?

There is substantial evidence that your species was able to populate the planet so much with the help of my species.

Think about the black plague in Europe, for example. If you humans weren't so superstitious, we cats would have controlled the vermin problem.

Now think about your gardens that we cats patrol against harmful birds and rodents.

Dogs are smelly. Dogs make messes.

Meow,
The cat

But there are so many bad words derived directly from cats:

Catacomb
Cataphasia ... Cataphasia
Catapults
Cataracts
Cataclysm
Catastrophe
Catatonic

And only one found for dogs:

Dogma
