Back in the UK some years ago I was asked to advise the family of a middle aged guy with internet addiction. This was quite a rarity then but of course much more common now. He had a fixation with progress bars, especially downloads and would do nothing except watch the bar until the download finished. This could be for a small program or a 700MB iSO. He did the same during AV cans too. The weird thing was, in between this, his PC usage was "normal" but as soon as he started another download, he just had to sit and watch it through.

![]() ![]() I'm one of those people who have a dual boot computer "XP & Mint" Every now and then I have to boot into XP and its agonizing waiting for it to fully load. Humming the Jeopardy tune doesn't even help. Thats when I am painfully reminded just how bloated and inefficient Windoze is. Then again it might help if I removed a couple dozen start-up items

It is an arduous business trying to log onto Windows I know what you mean. The computers at work on the network are terrible, I've now got into the habit of logging on as soon as I get in, then going to get a cuppa (with one eye on the terminal for security reasons of course
)I've set up a home server at home now so all I have on my laptop and PC are the OS which speeds things up a little bit. |

Lost more than one pole that way.(no kettle though)
I even went as far as putting one turn of the fishing line around my big toe. (I seen it in a cartoon but hey it still looked like a good idea) ![]() Nothing replaces a good sturdy fishing pole holder

I was never one of these types who always have to fish miles out at every venue using things that go "bleep". I was a dedicated margin and float guy, even at night using illuminated tips. Fishing that close to your rod tip doesn't leave much time to react unless the bail is left off, (or using a baitrunner) which mine never was.
