This is being talked about here again too as there were three people from Teresopolis on that flight. My understanding is that the forces which separated these components from their outer casing are alone likely to render the contents unusable. Then of course there is the pressure effect of being at this depth for so long. Still, stranger things have often surprised us so I'm hoping that the ability to extract some useful information from these components is one of them.

I hope they do also Torres. Have you seen this fascinating Nova documentary with regard to the accident?

Thanks settingsuns for the link, if you can post the link for part 2 I'd be most grateful as there were numerous other crash videos and I didn't see part 2.

The documentary makers have mixed up the location of Rio with Salvador, on the map, so it's a good thing they were not in charge of locating the black boxes!

You are right Torres, the sequence is pretty hard to find. Especially when you are told that there is only 2 parts, actually there are 4. Sorry about that.

If black boxes are made to survive plane crashes, why don't they just make
the whole plane out of the same materials?
