Slightly belated this, but last Saturday would have been the 75'th birthday of Roy Orbison aka The Big O. Roy Orbison gave us some of the greatest and most beautiful songs ever written, songs that will endure as long as there are people around to listen to them. Sadly, Roy died from a heart attack at the age of 52.

Right up there with Elvis and Johnny Cash.....not to mention the Travelling Wilburys...what a line up that was. I wonder if there's any truth to the rumor of Roy Orbison dropping in on the legendary Million Dollar Quartet session. He certainly wouldn't have been out of place in such company. An amazing voice, also credited with inventing wearing sunglasses indoors. The Big O was cool before cool was invented

I was told by a Marvel fanatic that Dr Octopus from the Spiderman comics was based on Roy Orbison. Nice quote from the man himself; People often ask me how would I like to be remembered and I answer that I would simply like to be remembered. |
