Default The Big O.

Slightly belated this, but last Saturday would have been the 75'th birthday of Roy Orbison aka The Big O. Roy Orbison gave us some of the greatest and most beautiful songs ever written, songs that will endure as long as there are people around to listen to them. Sadly, Roy died from a heart attack at the age of 52.
Roy Orbison 1936-1988.

He was performing up the time of his passing away. I was always impressed with the big names he performed with. He's right up there with the other musical legends.

Right up there with Elvis and Johnny Cash.....not to mention the Travelling Wilburys...what a line up that was. I wonder if there's any truth to the rumor of Roy Orbison dropping in on the legendary Million Dollar Quartet session. He certainly wouldn't have been out of place in such company. An amazing voice, also credited with inventing wearing sunglasses indoors. The Big O was cool before cool was invented

Great singer. I really started to appreciate the likes of Roy O and Johnny Ray, when i matured more in life.

I was told by a Marvel fanatic that Dr Octopus from the Spiderman comics was based on Roy Orbison.

Nice quote from the man himself;

People often ask me how would I like to be remembered and I answer that I would simply like to be remembered.

The travelling Wilburys was probably the finest short lived band of
all time. Bob Dylan (my favorite), Orbison, Tom Petty, Harrison and
Jeff Lynne sounded great together.

In traveling Wilburys Vol 1:
Nelson Wilbury - George Harrison
Lefty Wilbury - Roy Orbison
Otis Wilbury - Jeff Lynne
Charlie T. Wilbury Jr. - Tom Petty
Lucky Wilbury - Bob Dylan

In Traveling Wilburys Vol. 3:

Spike Wilbury - George Harrison
Clayton Wilbury - Jeff Lynne
Muddy Wilbury - Tom Petty
Boo Wilbury - Bob Dylan

We ll bury them in the mix

Bo
