As for me, I don't have any desktop icons at all. Everything is either in the start menu, quick launch, or somewhere inside my drives.
The reason for that is because I have more than 11 thousand wallpapers. There were thousands of others that I've deleted. Yup, I'm a collector, and I've seen every one of my walls at least once (memory overdose!). They're all managed by my Nuonsoft Wallpaper Cycler Lite, which I recommend to everyone who has a large collection. Anyways, here's my current (and temporary) desktop:

Under settings there is a check box for "frames"; you can turn it on or off. You can also set or establish margins around your pictures or have none.
