Today is a sad day (for me at least) in that I learned that La Quinta Estacion have finally split up. This was already rumored back in 2008 when the bass player left leaving only two. A recent dispute about still using the band's name has apparently tipped the balance. Certainly this band did more than any other to bring Latin music to the masses and took Mexico by storm after relocating there from Spain in 2001. Natalia Jimenez the lead singer not only had a powerful almost classical voice but wrote 90% of their material. If anyone has not heard their music I recommend either Directo Desde Madrid (2008) or Sin Frenos (2009). Huge talent, sad loss but others will follow.
