Default Protecting a USB Memory Stick

My wife will shortly be visiting relatives abroad and she'll be taking a brand new USB memory stick which has FF portable loaded onto it. I have also placed her FF profile within the portable version so she has access to all her bookmarks, password manager etc.

Unfortunately, her relatives are not very IT savvy and my concern is that the USB might become infected. (One of the PCs she'll be using was recently so badly infested by malware that it required a complete reformat! )

Normally the priority is to protect PCs from infected USB sticks, but in this case it will be the exact opposite.

Would something like Panda USB Vaccine do the trick as it disables Windows autorun?

I will be grateful for any suggestions.
