We certainly need more choice. Silverlight doesn't seem to have been adopted by many except for some of Microsoft's web sites. I have been thinking this very same thing about this lately. All the websites on the web that use animation, probably 99% use flash and the rest use quicktime, silverlight, wmp, etc.
All the users of 64bit windows have to use 32bit browsers because there are no 64bit plugins for flash. I wish some other organization would come out and compete against adobe on this issue.
