On
upgrading to Ubuntu 9.10, Ubuntu says "
be sure that you have all updates applied to Ubuntu 9.04 before you upgrade" and also
recommends to read the release notes which document caveats and workarounds for known issues.
Personally I'd prefer to do a fresh installation rather than upgrading with all these extra steps which would end up taking even more time and trouble for me.
