Well, my 9.10 is now up and running again although I am far from happy with this 'upgrade'. My USB modem has been re-scripted in the only way possible (according to my tech guy) but using it is still a huge problem. The computer will not boot with the USB connected which is a pain to start with. Then, after it's plugged in it powers up and hunts for a signal OK but then the connection falls in and out several times before it stabilizes. Sometimes, this is accompanied by a Modem Manager crash report.
Additionally, the tray icon spins so fast before it settles I sometimes think it's going to take off!
There's other problems too. The latest version of Seamonkey which I was using on 9.04 won't work with this one, and in Firefox the LinkExtend extension is the same although WOT is OK. VLC runs CPU at extremely high levels and also crashes so I've had to uninstall this. Believe it or not there is also a huge bug in my favorite Gnometris game which seems to have been in Ubuntu since the year dot. The window background shows your desktop wallpaper until you start the game but then it doesn't remember any of your settings and the block movements are erratic making using it almost impossible.
For me though the modem issue is the killer blow. I'm expecting to go W7 within a month and if by this time the modem issue isn't fixed I'll either revert back to 9.04 or see if someone can script a connection in another distro for me.
