I try from a distance, the boys live in Devon with their Mum, probably why they don't support Southampton. For my sins I do, born here, but after going to uni in Exeter spent 20 years in that part of the world.

My late Grandfather used to take me to the old Dell, I saw some great matches, unfortunately that was back in the days of real violence at games. Fancy a sharp 50p in your head anyone?

Saints are now probably at their lowest, but there are some good times for me to remember:

1976 - FA Cup Final : Southampton 1 Manchester United 0

I can't remember the year but I saw Saints go down 3 - 2 to Forest in the old League Cup final.

A few years back Saints did travel to Old Trafford and beat Man U 6 - 3. I think we must have substituted Brazil on that day.

For better or worse you stick by the team you've chosen, I suppose that's part of the fun of being a football supporter.
