ZoneAlarm Pro Free for 24 Hours (Expired)
This one is worth grabbing even if you don't have an immediate use.
To celebrate its 15th birthday CheckPoint Software is offering a 12 months subscription to the full Pro version of ZoneAlarm firewall. The offfer is for 24 hours only and starts at 6.00 A.M. PDT, on Tuesday the 18th of November 2008.
This is a great product; I use it myself on several PCs. As well as a top firewall and HIPS you also get a pretty decent anti-spyware scanner as well.

Thanks to regular contributors Rhiannon Dent and Rick Farrow for letting me know about this.

Didn't have any problems obtaining the license keys (got one for each of my email addresses!) and this heads-up is much appreciated.
I do have two concerns though:
-Didn't know that it only works on XP or Vista; my older PC running Win 2000 couldn't install it.
-Was going to replace the Comodo on my other computers with this, but I don't know if the ZoneAlarm is the better of the two, at least enough so to go through the hassle of firewall uninstalls. Any input out there? The previous comment was a start, but more info would be helpful...
Comodo is better.
Thanks for the information about this! I am now using Zone Alarm Pro and am very impressed so far; way better than Comodo, which I used once and uninstalled because it was too complicated and would not learn. ZA does what it says it will do and is relatively unobtrusive.
Kudos to Gizmo and all those who contribute in one way or another to make this site a great source for software and advice.
I am writing from Australia. I tried downloading. Got message about overwhelming demand. I entered my name and email address and was told I would get download link within 48 hours. Nothing has happened and it has been over 48 hours. I am extremely disappointed with Checkpoint. They should honour their offer/promotion for all people who provided their e-mail to Checkpoint within the 24 hours window i.e. people like me.
I got my link after 72 hours it works fine
Same thing happened to me. Very annoying when others have reported getting numerous emails.
Just downloaded licence and program, but "license key is valid 11/18/08 to 11/18/09" only, and for use on only 1 computer... not sure if I will use it in this period.
central europe time (GMT+1), download still works (with 48 delay of course) and it will work for another 2 hours.
Guys the Offer is good till PST ( Which is California Time Zone ) Enjoy My Friends...

Tried downloading. Got message about overwelming demand. Had to enter name and email address and will get download link within 48 hours. See what happens.
Just got my link and license key.
The link downloads a downloader. When you ran it you get the option to either download and install or download only.
Thanks for the find.
PS The year of the license seems to start from now and not from when installed. Al least, that's what seems from the email.
I also did that, but still nothing on e-mail. As anyone succeeded ?
HI
No Still haven't got any Email.... waiting for one.
Please can you tell me,does i work with/on visa? Thanks in add...
It works with Vista
I wonder if they were inspired by Codeweavers' recent "success" ?
I also wonder what will happen next December. I'm quite happy with Comodo, really, but I guess this is worth a shot.
doesn't work with 64bit systems
The Zone Alarm web site says it works with 64 bit hardware but only if you are running at 32 bit OS.
I guess I am out of luck. I got the license but will it expire before Zone Alarm supports my 64 bit HW and OS??
Seems ridiculous that it isn't supported yet.
See http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/free/pressReleases/2008/pr_9.html for Checkpoint's announcement.
There seems to be some conflicts between the different articles on the web on this topic. Some talks about 0600 am PDT, others about 0600 am PST. Checkpoint is located in both California and Israel according to http://www.checkpoint.com/corporate/contact_list.html, but I presume the promotion is based around the California office. According to http://www.timetemperature.com/tzus/california_time_zone.shtml, Daylight saving is still used in the PST time zone. What a mess. lol
Thanks for the headsup, Gizmo!
Just a note, I thought the US was out of DST now, so shouldn't it be 0600 PST?
