Free "Westerns" Books Online

Introduction

This is a listing of sites that legally offer free Westerns books , for reading and listening (audio).

All of these sites listed have content that is legal for them to distribute and for you to download and/or read online.  If you find that any site listed is offering content that can not be legally transferred, please let me know in the comments below.

Westerns

2020k (Westerns) around 100 books available for download in a variety of formats.

Amazon "JerseyTomato" has put together a list of 40 free western novels for download for kindle at Amazon.  There may be more, but they are difficult to find and this is a good starting point.

Arthur's Classic Novels (Western) (Western2) Good collection of over 600 books available for online viewing.  Also Zane Grey, Bret Harte & S.E. White books.

BooksShouldBeFree  has 17 western novels available.  Although a audio book site, all of their books have a link to the corresponding Gutenberg page where there are several download options.

BrowzerBooks offers 10 western novels for online viewing and 5 novels for download on its Westerns page as well as 15 westerns books for download on its Old Time Westerns page.

Classicly offers 5 free full length classic novels and one free short story in their westerns category.  All are available for download in PDF and KINDLE and a couple are also available as audio books.  Thanks to Tyler G for this suggestion.

CrankyLibrarian has a large collection of free western novels for viewing online.  The first in the list was not available, but all the others I checked were available.  A very nice listing.  The site will not allow link to the Westerns page, look for the "Our Western Heritage" link.

DigiLibraries offers 136 free western works.  Most appear to be novels, but there are some short stories.  This is a mix of classic and modern (unpublished authors) works.  All the ones I checked were available for download in ePub or for reading online.  Some also offered PDF downloads.   Thanks to Jonathan Malka for this suggestion.

eBookTakeaway has 65 western novels available for download in html, pdf or text ebook formats.

ePubBooks offers 4 free full length classic western novels for download in ePub.  There are links to download in other formats, but some of those are to pay sites.

FalbePublishing offers two Zane Grey westerns and The Virginian for free download in PDF.

FeedBooks Interesting collection of 115 books downloadable in a variety of formats in their PublicDomain(Westerns) section.
There are also 21 free works in their original works section.

FreeBook-S Over 100 free western ebooks available for download in pdf, mobi or epub.

FreeOnlineNovels  has links to about 100 western novels.  These are links offsite, so download/viewing options vary.

Gutenberg (Westerns) Nice collection available for download in several formats.

Joggon offers 6 full length classic western novels for reading online.

KnowledgeRush offers 31 western novels for free reading online.  This collection includes 10 Zane Gray novels, 11 books of B.M Bower and 5 works of Willa Cather as well as 5 other works.

ManyBooks (Westerns) 496 books available for download in a variety of formats.

MemoWare (Westerns) 107 books available for download in varying formats.

MobileRead has 608 western novels listed for free download in a variety of formats.  you can set to search only for Sony, Mobi, ePub, eBookwise or Misc.

Munsey's (Westerns) 239 novels available for download in a large variety of downloads.

Munsey'sMobile offers about 250 free full length classic western novels.  These appear to be different entries thatn the main Munsey's site above.  They offer HTM and XML as well as download in PDF, PRC.  The vast majority also offer ePUB download.

PublicBookShelf has 9 free ebooks in its Westerns category and 49 free ebooks in its Western Romance novels category available for online viewing.

WorldWideSchools has 25 classic westerns available for online viewing.

BooksShouldBeFree  has 17 western novels available.  In addition to MP3 download, all of their books have a link to the corresponding Gutenberrg page where there are several download options.

LibriVox has 27 western novels available for download in MP3 (64kb/128kb) or ogg vorbis.  All are human read.
