Free Romance Books Online

Introduction

This is a listing of sites that legally offer free romance books, for reading and listening (audio).

All of these sites listed have content that is legal for them to distribute and for you to read and or download.  If you find that any site listed is offering content that can not be legally transferred, please let me know in the comments below. 

Also, I would appreciate it if you would post comments about any sites that you like or do not like so that information can be added to the site's listing here.  This would help new users to decide which sites to try.

Romance Novels (Reading)

1RomanceEBooks offers 27 free books from their romance collection for download in a variety of formats.  These are not public domain offerings, but some of their usual offerings made available for free.

AllRomanceBooks lists 169 free romance ebooks for download.  Registration is required.  I noticed that there appeared to be the 1RomanceEBooks and eHarlequin listings shown there, as well as quite a few others.  Again, these are not public domain, but the free offerings of current publishers.

AssociatedContent has an article "Where to find 64 romance ebooks to download" which contains links to free romance novels online.  There is also a part 2 of the article which has more links to more free romance reads.  These are mostly author releases, so there is a good amount of unique content here.

BookGlutton has Madame Bovary and The Castle of Otranto in its Romance section for online reading with the added  feature of  groups available for discussion of the readings.  Nice combination of reading and socializing.  Suggested by an anonymous poster.

BookYards (Romance) 162 novels available for download in pdf

ClassicLiteratureLibrary  offers the public domain works of Jane Austen and the Memoirs of Jacques Casanova for online viewing.

eBookNook (Romance) Around a hundred love stories available for reading online

eHarlequin offers 17 free romance novels for download in several different format options.  These are not public domain novels, but some of Harlequin's usual offerings.

EveryonesReading  is offering 10 free romance novels for download in several formats.  These are one book from each of their series and are being offered to celebrate their first anniversary (so they may not be there long).

Feedbooks (Romance) 100+ classic romance novels available for download in a variety of formats

FindingFreeeBooks  lists links to romance novels free for download in a variety of formats.  This is a growing list of recent works and is an interesting and unique collection.  Also worth checking out is the limited time offers section as there will be some romance novels there.

GoogleDirectory has links to sites offering free romance novels.  Many of these are links to author sites and there are some unique entries here.

HeyGidday (Romance) (Love) small, but unique, collection of classic romance novels in pdf (zipped)

Jackee'sCorner has romance novels of Jackee Connor for available for download in pdf, html and lit.  There are 4 completed novels, 4 works in progress and 5 short stories.

Journeyof theHeart offers the works of Judith Bronte for free.  These romance novels are available for download in pdf or reading online.  There are 7 completed works and a couple in progress.

KnowledgeRush has a small listing of classic romance works available for download in text or HTML, with some Microsoft ebook downloads.

Luisa Green  offers 3 of her romance ebooks for free download in pdf.

ManyBooks (Romance) 1118 novels available for download in a large variety of formats

MemoWare (Romance) 153 books available for download in varying formats

Payton Lee offers 17 of her romance works and several short stories for download in pdf.  The downloads are at LuLu, which supposedly requires registration to download, but I was able to download and did not have to register.

Qvadis (Romance) 86 novels available in doc download

RoadtoRomance  has a listing of links to free romance novels for download in pdf or reading online.  Some are duplicates of this listing, but others are links to author sites. 

RomanceatHeart the online romance magazine has links to free online romance novels and short stories.  There are some unique entries here.  The links vary as to reading online or download in different formats.

RomanticMarriageStories  features romance works about married life.  These short stories present a high view of marriage and portray the fun a romantic couple can have in a happy and sexy marriage.

Sarah Reinke  has made several of her romance novels, and some non-romance novels, available for download in pdf.  These are for mature audiences and you must be over 18 years of age to download.

Sloan St.James  has made 4 of her romance novels, including THE DARK PLAIN, an RWA award winning novel, available for download in pdf.

TrinityMoon a small collection of novels and short stories for online reading

WorldWideSchoolLibrary has a nice collection of classic romance works available for free online reading.

Romance Books (Audio)

 AudioBooks has two romance novels:  Lancelot:Knight of the Cart and Tristan and Iseult available for download.  You must register (free) to download.

AudioBookTreasury has Jane Eyre and Sense and Sensibility available for download in MP3 or Zip and for listening online.

AudioLiteratureOdyssey has Persuasion and Lancelot: Knight of the Cart available for download in very good quality MP3.  Also, some poems and sonnets and short stories.

LibriVox has a large number of Romance audio books for free download in excellent MP3 quality.  there is also a large number of works in progress, so this site's listings is always growing.

Lit2Go has several books available for download in very good quality MP3.  The downloads are separated into chapters.

PodioBooks has three unique Romance novels available for download in very good quality MP3.  These were originally released as podcasts (and still are) but most are completed.  This collection will not be found elsewhere.
