A Free Animation Utility That can be Used by the Non-Artistic

Pivot Stick Image

When it comes to artistic skills I rate myself at the bottom of the barrel. Yet with Pivot Stickfigure Animator I was able to create a simple stick figure animation that actually looked quite professional.

All that you need to do is move sections of the standard stick figure and then create a frame. Do this a few times and you have a series of frames that can be replayed as an animated gifs.

A nice feature is the fact that any frame can be easily edited so if you goof up it is easily fixed.

Artistic types can create their own figures rather than use the standard stick figure supplied. You can also add your own background.

Overall this a specialized free utility that's well implemented, easy to use and a great deal of fun.

PS If you want to see just what you can do with stick animation check out the site below. I doubt that it was done with Pivot Stickfigure Animator though:

The above link is dead.

Try this one: http://peter-bone.software.informer.com/

or this one: http://download.cnet.com/Pivot/3000-6677_4-52544.html

For me, the first site is rated green on WOT, on Firefox and Iron both.

By the way, here is the new original site of Pivot :

http://pbone.it-mate.co.uk/pivot.htm

Earlier the site was on Yahoo Geocities, but as geocities is closed now, so the link won't be working. Thanks for bringing this to our notice :).

Try this instead, guys:

http://t.sektorz.net/ OR

http://www.deelong.com/Scream/Editor.htm (Not a stick figure program - This one only runs on Win98 machines, but, besides being very sophisticaded, produces animes MUCH smaller than MFlash and with sound!)

Thanks for posting these. I've replaced the one above with the cnet.link.
Definitely got an orange warning with SRWare/Iron+WOT for the other one.
Strange :)
