Best Firefox Extensions

Hyperwords

I wanted to give this one a plug firstly because it a great extension, this is a quote from the blurb

With Hyperwords for Firefox you can select any word on any web page and do useful things from the menu that appears:Searches, references, maps, translation, conversion, and much more!

But just as importantly support from the developers is first rate

For those special sites

Some neat FF extensions exist for browsing those "special" sites we don't talk about.  They include the following:

1) Location Navigator - browse by varing any part of an address

2) firefusk . an image fusker

3) Scrapbook ... an all around good tool to capture and organize pages/images via different methods

My best = Old Location Bar + few others

My list of best Firefox add-ons:

1. Old Location Bar 1.3 - removes completely that ridiculous Awfulbar. I can not believe that this is not a standard option...

2. Colorful Tabs

3. NoScript

4. Orbit Downloader

5. Tab Mix Plus

CookieSafe

Hi

I was wondering if CookieSafe or CS Lite should be included. It allows you to easily control cookie permissions.

Thanks

Adblock Filterset.G Updater

I've heard many users (and the maker of Adblock Plus I think) say Adblock Filterset.G Updater isn't good.

Please visit

I personally think you should take it off. Why not just recommend some of the other filters which do not slow down browsing speed?

Video Download Helper

I happened to find this by accident. I'm glad I did. For online video addicts, there is a great free Firefox extension out there that makes it a simple to download videos and photos from hundreds of sites, with as few as one mouse-click. The extension is called 'Video DownloadHelper'. It is available at www.downloadhelper.net.

Two add-ons I really like...

Two add-ons I really like are QuickProxy which gives me a little icon in my status bar to turn my proxy on / off for when I bring my computer home from work, and FoxyClocks which gives me multiple time zones also in my status bar. I have two visible all the time, and if I hover over that part of the status bar, my whole list of 15 or so international times I have to deal with at work pops up.

AdBlock plus is my number one must have.

WOT

And I think WOT is a great security tool. It works like SiteAdvisor but uses community protection. JamesSmith

Thats quite a small list of firefox's best addons...

1. DownThemAll - Its a download manager/accelerator extension for firefox and works really well. Can download all or selective links or images on a webpage, and can also resume, pause and accelerate downloads.

2. FlashGot - Extension to have support for external download managers to work with firefox. A must have.

3. FireFtp - FTP for firefox

4. VideoDownloadHelper - To download images, and also videos from YouTube and similar sites.

about:

Yeah! Let's discuss them here. Everybody has his'own set of inevitables and indispensables and most entertaining (FireSomething!!!) but  if we do not want to simply mirror Mozilla, we need to make a choice. Not all of the extensions discussed here, we'll make it to the page, but they'll live in this forum till the end of time...

Here's the list of categories and we (joe and cy) intend to pick not more than 6 of each.
