$39.95 EASEUS Partition Master Pro for Free Until Feb 1 (Expired)

This offer has now expired. For alternative free partitioning software see here:

http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/best-free-partition-manager.htm

Back in September 2009 we offered Gizmo's Freeware users a free copy of the $39.95 Pro version of EASEUS Partition Master. EASEUS have just contacted me to say they are now repeating the offer from their own site and is valid until Feb 1, 2010.

The version offerered is 4.1.1 and according to the EASEUS site this will work on Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7 for both 32 and 64 bit versions of Windows. The download is 42.1MB.

Unlike the standard free edition of Partition Master, the Pro edition allows the creation of a recovery CD/DVD.  This is really an essential feature in a partitioning program as disk partitioning always carries a small risk of something going wrong.  A recovery CD can make the difference between having a useless unbootable machine and one that is working.

I use the freeware Partition Wizard, http://www.partitionwizard.com . It works smoothly for me, and you can make a bootable CD with it for recovery.

Ok final verdict (for me) is that this is sub-par compared to either Acronis or Paragon. I'm going to stick with Acronis personally (although I did download the free Paragon a few days ago as a backup). Still have to give credit for a nice Hot Find though...better than most lately.

WOW! I have an older version 3.1. Now I get to grab the new one.

I have used this free version recently and it worked well. If you want a snazzy GUI then you will have to look elsewhere, but it does what it says. I have moved and resized partitions with no problems. (I still backed up my files first though)

There's been a lot of talk about the importance of properly aligning partitions on SSDs, and the fact that Acronis and Paragon backup restorations don't "keep" the preset alignment. Given that this program's description says it can be used to MOVE partitions, I wonder if this might make Easeus a possible product for maintaining alignment for those of us backing up SSDs.

Nice hot find but I'm just curious how this might stack up against Acronis (which I currently use and in fact paid for)? Never used anything from Easeus, and aside from finding unpronouncable brand names annoying, would be interested in hearing from folks who have used it...

Is this better than 'Paragon Partition Manager 9 Special Edition' which I presently use?
Is it worthwhile changing?
Thanks.
Doug.
