How to Convert Youtube or Google videos to iPod, PSP, etc on Mac for free
1. Using free online converter
The first method is using a website to convert the media files. This is good for you when you only have one file to convert or you can't install the programs necessary for conversion.
My favorite is zamzar converter.
You don't even need to download the video to your computer. Enter the URL of the video to the box, choose the format to convert to (iPod accepts mp4 video. So choose the format “mp4”) and enter your email address , then click “convert”. The output file will be sent to your mailbox.
But you can not convert the large video files using free online converters. It is up to 100MB. And the quality of the output files is so so.
A Mac computer. (tiger or leopard)
A video to download.
Find Your Favorite Video. This step is pretty self explanatory. Be sure to use Safari and search for your favorite YouTube Video. It's as easy as that!
Once you locate it and expand all the activities going on in the page, look for the largest file size (this is shown in the right hand corner).
Most of the files found in a YouTube page are small files while most FLV files are several megabytes.
Once you locate the largest file, double click on it. This should cause another window to open and a download to ensue after that called "get_video".
Now that the FLV file is downloading to the desktop, we have to wait.
Great, now you have located the file and downloaded it to the desktop. What's next? Well, you need to open up your freshly installed iSkysoft iPod Movie Converter for Mac.
Click the "Add Files" button to add the youtube video files to the program by automatically selecting an appropriate encoder for the video files you want to convert to. Select the output format and then click “convert”.
This process only lasts a few minutes at the most.
The rest is up to you:
1. You can rename it and drag it into iTunes to put on your iPod or iPhone.
2. You can email it to friends so they can save it for themselves.
3. You can even edit it, and even post it back up onto YouTube!

YouTubeRobot.com today announces YouTube Robot 2.0, a tool that enables you to download video from YouTube.com onto your PC, convert flv files to various video formats to watch it when you are on the road on mobile devices like mobile phone, iPod, iPhone, Pocket PC, PSP, or Zune.
YouTube Robot allows you to search for videos using keywords or browse video by category, author, channel, language, tags, etc. When you find something noteworthy, you can preview the video right in YouTube Robot and then download it onto the hard disk drive. The speed, at which you will be downloading, is very high: up to 5 times faster than other software when you download a single file and up to 4 times faster when you download multiple files at a time.
Manual download is not the only option with YouTube Robot. You may as well schedule the download and conversion tasks to be executed automatically, even when you are not around. Downloading is followed by conversion to the format of your choice and uploading videos to a mobile device (if needed). For example, you can plug in iPod, select the video, go to bed, and when you wake up next morning, your iPod will be ready to play new YouTube videos.

Youtube for iphone/iphone 3G, free tutorial http://www.daniusoft.com/tutorial/youtube-to-iphone.html.
Nice guide, I'd prefer using vixy.net to download and convert youtube video, it's a nice free online video converter that is similar to zamzar.com , and here is a step by step guide about it
http://www.freedvdripper.net/guides/free-download-youtube-video.html
There's also another called "www.flvto.com - works great, and automatically allows you to download the output file directly from the site. It converts Youtube only, not Google Videos.
Dear Gizmo.
In addition to Zamzar, there is another free online converter which appear to be able to convert [successfully] larger video content & is versatile
www.youconvertit.com
I have been using both.
Thank you for a most enjoyable, educative & useful Tech. News Letter, I look forwards to reading it.
God bless.
