WinX DVD Ripper Platinum Free Until Sept. 30 (now Oct. 31!)

Winx DVD Ripper Platinum is free from Sept. 15- Sept. 30!

http://www.winxdvd.com/specialoffer/sep09.htm

Note: Please be aware that this website carries a caution (medium) rating with WOT (Web Of Trust).  It is however either "green" or unknown with the other rating agencies.

From the website:

WinX DVD Ripper Platinum is a professional DVD ripping software tool which could backup your DVD video to your personal PC or put into your portable devices. It offers fast ripping speed, stable ripping process and best video/audio quality. Integrated all DVD ripping functions together, WinX DVD Ripper Platinum should be a great choice for you to backup DVDs.

I have NOT personally used this software and I know nothing about it.  I am not necessarily recommending it.

I have not been able to find which OS's it supports and whether it works on 64bit systems or Windows 7.  Furthermore, I cannot tell if this is limited to the US or is available anywhere.

The site does come up clean with WOT.

As with any download, please check the file before installing.

EDIT (9/28/09):  According to this site, this offer has now been extended to October 31, 2009!--

http://www.smallvideosoft.com/dvd-ripper

Using it now, it is a wonderful program.
Recommended

I installed WinX DVD ripper last night and I am very impressed. It is very easy to use. Get it while it's free!

Just tried one disc, video looks ok but there's no audio at all. Any idea? I saw this problem reported on another site too.

2 suggestions:

1. Contact support for the software via the company at support[at]winxdvd.com.

2. Post your question on our forums at: http://www.techsupportalert.com/freeware-forum/general-computer-support/

Hope this helps.

Why bother? DVDShrink w/ DVD Decrypter.....

Here is a review of this program. Sounds good enough for me.

http://www.ghacks.net/2009/09/16/winx-dvd-ripper-platinum-free-offer/

This is from their web site (http://www.winxdvd.com/dvd-ripper-platinum/
) located at the bottom of the page. It answers most of the questions brought up here. I also successfully downloaded the software with no problems. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see the following FAQ’s about their free offer.

Q: Will this FREE DVD Ripper Platinum version still work after the Sep. 30th?
A: Yes, this version will work lifetime, you can keep it as long as your wish.

Q: Will I have to pay to continue to use this version?
A: No, you can continue to use this version without any fee.

Q: Will I be able to update this version to a newer version for free?
A: For minor update, it's totally free; and we plan to release a brand new version (major upgrade) in Nov., adding several new features, such as upgrade codec, support HD, and merge, crop, split video, etc. If you want to upgrade "give away" version to brand new version (major upgrade), you can get it at a very low price.

I have doubts about this offer. Nevertheless, I will give it a try. As soon as it was installed I was informed that it was out of date and an update was available. It turned out the update was not free and that the free version is a cut down version. I do not know yet what is missing.

If you have not used it .... WTF? It is worthless to tell folks about something unknown, unused, untested! UN FREAKING REAL!

TSA brings you reviews of software which has been tested (in the most part), offers, news and also information about items of which we have little or no knowledge but may nevertheless be of interest to our visitors. How you seek to use this information is up to you but just to rubbish the efforts of our volunteer contributors displays an ignorance of the highest calibre.

I agree.....

This version (WinX DVD Ripper Platinum) is lifetime available. Once you download it, you can keep as long as you can.

I've been using WinX DVD Ripper vers. 4.1 without the "platinum" designation for a couple of weeks. Mine is the free version and has worked wonderfully for converting my DVDs to .avi files. I only encountered one DVD that it did not work on out of maybe 10 I've tried; on Terminator 2 Extreme it ended conversion at about one hour. It does create files that are somewhat larger than the average CD. A two hour movie might be a 1.3 gb .avi file if you like near-DVD quality viewing, but it's a fine product. I have not tried this version yet, but I've just downloaded it and will give it a go. I see posters commenting that it's only available for free if you buy something else. I think that might be on the company website rather than the link provided here.

Please be advised that the WOT scorecard for this site has changed from green when I posted this link to now being yellow.

However, the site does come up clean with Dr. Web. And, the file download is clean according to Dr. Web and Virustotal.

I personally don't think that there's any problem with this at all. I still remember when TSA was caution rated by Browser Defender because of one anciently buried download link which we eventually managed to track down and remove. It's just that having set a policy to only promote WOT green rated sites we are naturally obliged to highlight this one. It certainly doesn't warrant removing what is, thanks to Kendall, a very good find.

Like #9 I downloaded it and have used it. It IS free, so people who haven't tried it should stop saying it is trial pay.

It works well. Very easy to use. Pretty good flexibility.

From what I'm reading on the site, it's more than just a ripper. It simultaneously converts, too... and it looks like it does a little bit of decrypting, as well.

This product actually feels more like... lemmee think... maybe...

http://www.convertdvdtoavi.com

...or something like that... only unlike THAT product, it outputs to more formats and does a little decrypting.

If it's as good as it at least PURPORTS itself to be, it could be okay. And all anyone would have to do to ensure that it what it rips/converts really and truly is decrypted (even if the method isn't one of the ones it touts) would be to make sure that this...

...is running in the background when you use it.

I had to get a trial pay.
it is on download.com so should be safe.
have not proceeded with it -trial pay.
just thought I should post.

This is NOT trial-pay! It is a totally free Platinum version!

Hey! ... I have installed a-squared and when I enter the website of this offer with a-squared blocking the connection and says it is a website that distributes deceptive software. Anybody know anything about this?

I don't know if A2 is more diligent than others, more paranoid than others, more cautious about verifying false positives, or just plain lazy about false positives.
I occasionally scan with the free version and it consistently finds the same programs on my system that all the other popular engines have no problems with.
Lazy is where my instinct brings me, takes one to know one I guess

What was the response from Emsisoft when you submitted these false positives for their attention?

Downloaded as Free from link , no problem . Linkextend shows Yellow from WOT the others show Green for the site . Installer & installed folder scan "clean" with Avira Free , MBAM , ASquared Free & my Zone Alarm Suite.

Looks good to me ( crosses fingers :o))

Thanks for the "heads up" to everyone.

Anthony.

All I know is that WOT shows it as ok.

My WOT shows a yellow (medium risk):

Still seems like a good offer as the freeware version gets an excellent from SoftPedia
http://www.softpedia.com/reviews/windows/WinX-DVD-Ripper-Review-119358.s...

I downloaded it and it was free as advertiized. You are ABLE to upgrade the version but there's no need to. Click on the right button for goodness sakes. not the upgrade button.

This is a wonderful program. I got it for free and it's burned onto a DVD now, safe.

Once you are able to rip a movie to AVI or DIVX you can use Format Factory 1.8 to get it to any other format. It's Free as well.

Just wondering if someone knows a free program to listen to audio tune as .mp3 on a dvd?
Many Thnx
