I have decided to shy away from these all-in-one utility programs. Why? Because my experience with programs like Defraggler and CCleaner and the like has shown these to be less drive space hungry and simpler to use in the long run. They are kept up to date and do a good job. Also, if something happens to your drive and you have to reload, GAOTD will not let you reinstall. You can also get portable versions of Defraggler and CCleaner for your USB drive. I could go on but I think you get the idea.

I have found tools like WinUtilities to perform better then CCleaner. Just my opinion though.

As or your concern with not being able to reinstall after a formatting:
1) YL-Computing, the developer of WinUtilites, allows you to reinstall WinUtilities even after the GOTD day. I say this because if you try to use the registration information after the day WinUtilities is given out, it will still work. I understand that in GOTD TOS it says you must install on that one specific day only but if a developer provides you with registration information and allows you to activate after that one day I see no problem in that (if they did not want people activating after the GOTD day, they would disable that registration key). Just don't share the registration information with others or else it may be all over warez sites and stuff.

2) There are plenty of free alternatives other then CCleaner that performing similarly to WinUtilities. I posted this list on GOTD comments and my review and I hope it is okay to post it here also:
WinOptimizer 5
TuneUp Utilities 2007
Desktop Maestro 2
Advanced SystemCare Free
Glary Utilities

Thanks for the information Ashraf! Of course, you're welcome to post whenever you like.

Your point of view is certainly well thought out. I just think this particular offer may be of interest to some users of this site. Personally, I'm happy to have WinUtilities on my computer, despite the GAOTD restrictions.
