Windows XP Error Message

How can I download a file if I get the message "Windows has blocked this program because it cannot verify the publisher"?

by tony on 21. July 2008 - 7:50  (4636)

It's about Windows preventing any damage to your operating system. The software you have downloaded is Unsigned software—software that does not have a valid software publisher's certificate can pose a risk to your computer and the information you store on your computer and can be blocked. So long as you have downloaded it from a well known site without Spyware etc just go ahead and load it. I have had it a few times and knowing where I downloaded I just carried on. Just thank yourself lucky you haven't got Vista!

It's a Bellsouth DSL Optimization tool and the pop-up doesn't give any area to load it..all it has is an "ok" then it disappears...

Vista also gives you that message, not a big deal; in alternative right-click the file> properties> unblock (if you trust the file, if you are certain it's not contaminated, etc).

might help. If you google the error message, you get a lot of hints...

I tried un-checking the option to download a file whether the signature is valid or not and it still has the same pop-up come up...very frustrating!!
