What is 256-bit?
256-bit is a measure of computer information and an attribute of computer systems.
256-bits makes awfully large numbers (2256) so it is a common length for cryptography keys.

| Cryptography |
Cryptography is the main use of bit-lengths 128-bit, 256-bit, and higher. 128-bit is generally the minimimum recommended for a private key using a secure algorithm like AES or Triple-DES. Therefore 256-bit would be recommended to ensure longer-term security. Remember that If you are using public keys then the key length will need to be much longer. |

Stub has been expanded with a table of uses and links to articles and reviews on cryptography.
I am sure this is a stub to be expanded later. Good choice of topic as I know many people will be interested.
Yes, this is a stub that will be expanded.
All of these short explanatory articles will be extended with:
- common questions and answers
- more links to related articles and product reviews
Hmm...when I clicked the link I expected an article that talked about security (encryption) based upon these different forms of bit (bunching them together rather than separating into different pages makes it more convenient) and hopefully maybe how it relates to modern encryption security, what we should be implementing etc etc.
This is way too brief (its spot on though) to be an informative let alone an interesting read. I'm sure there's more to come? :D
Thanks for the feedback. As I say above, this will be expanded.
