IP Privacy On the 10 ways to unblock websites link, under use hide ip software, my WOT picked up that the site had malware.
It is the IP Privacy link which has the bad WOT rating. We only rate the site we link to, not all the third party links from it.
Hello,
The way you handled "CNET’s TechTracker " with its OpenCandy is GREAT!
Keep it this way for any software that installs OpenCandy regardless of whatever statements the software provider is making.
I think that your first commitment is to your readers who have been trusting Gizmo & associates - so please, make certain that we are fully aware of any trick like those played by OpenCandy.
Regards, DM

Thanks! We'll do our best to keep on top of things. :)

You policy on OpenCandy states:
Gizmos’ Freeware will not list any program that contains OpenCandy in its installer and does not clearly state this fact in its End User Licensing Agreement (EULA).
Gizmo’s Freeware will not list any program that contains OpenCandy that does not provide users with the ability to opt out of all recommended downloads.
Which of these two conditions does TechTracker violate?
TechTracker's EULA does not clearly state that OpenCandy is in its installer.
The TechTracker online EULA does not mention OpenCandy at all
http://www.cnet.com/techtracker/app-eula/
The EULA contained in the install only mentions OpenCandy at the end of the EULA. It does not contain the notice of OpenCandy at the begining of the EULA as the IZArc EULA does in the example posted in the article containing Gizmo's policy on OpenCandy.
I've used TechTracker a few times, always right-on, always dependable. CNET has never let me down.
I tried techtracker. It said I needed 3 updates. It was wrong on all 3 counts. It's new so I'm not saying it's bad...just needs work.
Never knew there were so many ways to unblock websites. Thanks for the interesting read.
