Use This Free Online Timeline Generator To Plan Or Document

I'm always interested in exploring new ways to present information.  One method that is gaining in popularity at the moment is the timeline, and there are various software tools around that can help you create them.

One of the easiest and simplest ways to get started in creating a timeline is to head to a web site called www.whenintime.com.  Once you've signed up, which is free, you can create your own timelines.  Just enter the dates/times of a series of events, and they'll be displayed on a timeline that you can scroll and zoom in your browser.

Events can be close together or far apart - it's up to you.  In the example below, I've entered 2 events that both occurred on the same day.  Alternatively, if you're documenting something from history, you can enter events that took place years or centuries apart.  A drop-down selector even allows you to choose between AD and BC!

Your timelines are stored online, ready for you to access in your browser from wherever you are.  A nice feature is that, if you wish, you can make the timelines public, and can also allow them to be publicly editable too.  A great feature if you're collaborating with someone remotely on a project and you want a simple way of deciding what's happening when.

Each event on the timeline can include an uploaded image file, too.  So you can have great fun documenting something like a wedding, party, conference, or trip.
