Unable to get updates for 'Anti-Malware' or 'SuperAntispyware'
I installed Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware on my machine. After installation when I try to 'Check for Updates' in Anti-Malware, I'm getting the following message
"Update failed. Make sure you are connected to the Internet and your firewall is set to allow Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to access the internet."
I have Comodo Firewall Pro setup and have added Anti-Malware as a trusted application. I even tried getting the updates after disabling Comodo with the same result.
Can anyone help in resolving this? I'm having the same problem after installing SuperAntiSpyware also.
-Thanks.

Although unlikely, it's also worth checking that you don't have windows firewall active at the same time as a third party firewall. Two firewalls will cause problems. If you use a third party, ensure the windows firewall is disabled.

Also may have to do with Internet Connections of Internet Explorer. Set it to default if you changed anything, to see if it's the cause.
You have to create a rule for Firewall ('outgoing only' works for me), and for HIPS/Defense + (like you did). It's the Firewall who's blocking your SAS and MBAM outgoing connections. In firewall section, go to Network Security Policy, delete existing SAS and MBAM entries, try to update again, when popup shows, select 'Outgoing Only', and BINGO !
Try resetting SASW to default settings. I had this problem recently and I did that and it seemed to work-however I also did a few other things that I can't recall so maybe it was these that solved the problem... It also happened-(malwarebytes and sasw both refusing to download and me getting the message about update failed etc) for the first time quite a while back and I eventually figured out how to quickly resolve the problem-unfortunately I can't find any record I may have made at the time as to how I did it-so don't know if I have been any help to you!
