Unable to enter a site using IE

I am able to get into the site at lycos.com o.k.   However, after entering ID and password, I click to enter and it blanks out the information I just typed and it waits for  me to to re-enter the save thing.  There is no error message and I can never get in.  This is using IE.  However using Opera I can do the same thing and it will let me enter the site.  Is there something in IE that is not accepting the ID and password?

This is just a trial suggestion. I had a similiar problem and had to go back to the original page that has the new registeration and reregister! Something gets messed up with a code word or name and it will not allow you to open or get into the system! Hope this works for you.

Not sure if you know this but IE6 is the worst browser on the planet. Anything works better. I appreciate you might like the look & feel of it though, so here are a couple of suggestions:

1. Upgrade to IE7, it's an improvement.

However you may be using an 'alternative' version of XP, so this might not be possible. In this case, try #2:

2. Use Firefox instead, and get one of the clever Firefox skins that basically turn it into Internet Explorer.

That way you'll *think* you are using IE, but in reality you'll have a real browser. How's that?

Which version of IE? Which O/S?
Try emptying the IE cache. You may also need to delete the relevant cookie.

I am using IE Version6.0 with XP. I have emptied the cache numerous times and now deleted the relevant cookie. I never had given that a thought. Sameo thing happens. If anything I would have thought I would have a problem with Opera but that works just fine. Really wierd.
