The Ultimate Developer and Power Users Tool List for Windows
Short and sweet: if you are interested in software you need to visit this site.
Whether you are a developer or a dabbler there is something for everyone at Scott Hanselman's 2009 Ultimate Developer and Power Users Tool List for Windows.
There are several categories that have tons of useful information covering a large (did I say large? I meant amazing) range.
Here are a few of the categories; I'm not going to list all of them and my fingers would fall off trying to give you an overview - you really have to see them for yourself. Its that good.
- Launchers
- Things Windows Forgot
- Outlook AddIns and Life Organizers
- Browser Add-Ins/Extensions
- The Big Ten Life and Work-Changing Utilities
- Low-Level Utilities
- Websites and Bookmarklets
- A (.NET) Developer's Life
- Regular Expressions
- The Angle Bracket Tax (XML/HTML Stuff)
You might want to settle in with your beverage of choice before you visit the site; its likely you'll be there a while.

Another site offering a few useful freeware applications...
http://www.eusing.com/Products.htm
There is some shareware in the list as well but scroll down as some are completely free.
Stardock also offer some useful free windows enhamcement apps...
http://www.stardock.com/downloads/
I like Object Dock and Fences (both free).
I've found a lot of great programs through lists like this. Ian's original Gizmo's 46 is still one of the best out there. With so many great freeware apps serving me well for so long I finally made a list of my own.

It's not as extensive as Scott's or Gizmo's, but these (to me) are at the top of the heap when it comes to quality freeware that gets the job done. The folks that create and maintain these apps really deserve our appreciation; if you're one of them Thank You very, very much.
Thanks for passing this along Rhiannon - putting the coffee on now.

Nicely done!
(I love Karen's stuff too)
I'm glad you mentioned that. Folks, if anyone out there ever decides to put together a 'Heroes of Freeware' write-up three people that definitely deserve a nomination are:
Karen Kenworthy
http://www.karenware.com/
Nir Sofer
http://www.nirsoft.net/
and Dimitrios Coutsoumbas
http://dimio.altervista.org/eng/
I would say that together, their tiny (but powerful) apps comprise the standard by which all other freeware should be judged. - Fessic
thank you, while i have a lot of them on list, it is VERY handy to have them , and the additional ones all in one handy list.
Though you probably have cost me some sleep.
Fantastic Gizmo - thank you. As for Mr. Hanselman, all I can is GREAT SCOTT!
There is an underlying thread that runs through responses to Gizmo's Freeware... Responses are NOT canned (or don't seem so), just people who appreciate what the site does.
I'm pretty sure no one here posts any canned responses. The site is a community site, staffed solely by people around the globe who volunteer time and talent. We have our hands full as it is, and I doubt anyone here would do something like that even if they had the time.
Amen!
WOW. That page has an incredible list of good software. I've got at least ten I need to try out now.
I found several I need to try. Or at least look at. Its an impressive list.
Much appreciated God bless you for taking the time to share!!!! Bob
Its my pleasure to share, glad you like it. =)

Roberta
